Supporting Your IT Network

Friday, December 18th, 2009

The number of businesses that are reliant on their internet connections for work is growing constantly with everyone realising and taking advantage of the possibilities that the World Wide Web presents. This places an even higher importance on the network support available to our companies as we can not afford to be offline for too long or we will be losing a considerable amount of profits.

IT support is a big business now thanks to the increase in online companies and companies with corporate websites (combined this makes up the majority of the UK industry). An IT support company will provide you with the peace of mind that if anything happened to your connection that could not be fixed over the phone they would be in your offices as soon as possible to rectify the problem and get you back online with minimal losses.

We all know internet connections can differ and sometime you may lose connection for a few minutes, this is something that is hard to do anything about. Most of the times it will happen because many people are trying to use the same server at the same time. This happens a lot with home broadband connections in the evening as this is when the majority of people will be surfing the internet. The same goes for some connections at work.

Some faults may only be very minor ones which may include problems such as someone not being able to print or someone not having access to a certain file, this maybe down to the network cabling. If this is the case a phone call to the IT support company may be sufficient as they can talk you through the problem. This will save you call out fees and shorten the timescale for fixing the problem. Remote control can be taken if needed as this is normally quicker than explaining what is needed over the phone to someone.

Of course, sometimes the problem will be bigger than that and will need immediate attention to avoid losses. In this case, your support company should be on site within hours as this is something like a loss of network or a crash of more than one computer which will seriously affect business (both existing and potential). When looking for IT support look at what they offer as part of the deal. Make sure that any problems that occur will be resolved as quickly as possible.
