One crime in every 1000 cameras

New research has shown that only one crime per year will be solved with the help of computer surveillance. Since the release of this information the public are in uproar over the excessive use of surveillance equipment in and around almost every city.

A local Chief Detective said officers should do more to make use of evidence captured by the cameras which are practically on almost every street corner around the country. Video surveillance and does not mix well with Joe public. The latest statistic does strongly emphasise the effectiveness of the CCTV cameras around the country. Why do we need them if they are not solving any crimes – Where is the need in this in spy equipment? The use of CCTV is quickly being challenged as these statistics have just been released. There is a massive dissapointment in these CCTV devices. In my opinion it is only a matter of time before they have mobile phone tracking hooked up on all of us! OK – That may be a little paranoid but we are living in the big brother society.

Recent statistical research has pointed out to us that computer video technology has been extremely useful in preventing cars and vans from being stolen and vandalised. To help out with this problem people have been investing money into vehicle tracking devices which radically increases the chance of getting your car if it has been stolen. Yet the massive investment into video surveillance is still an enormous expense with little effectiveness and it creates a huge intrusion of human privacy but does not provide any improvement on our own security. What can we do? What is the value of keeping these cameras in our streets anymore? Should we get rid of them all together? You would think that no Government official would be thinking that the statistics would be as low as they are but then again I hope that they are planning for something to be done. Let’s see what happens..

With all the Spy gadgets and spy equipment out there to buy, we have to ask the question of have we gone too far? Have all of us become that nervous about what our neighbours are up to that we need to monitor the other person? The technology needed for these gadgets has become so small it can fit into lighters and pens, and much cheaper so most people could afford some of it. And the gadgets are so cheap as to be brought by people just for a laugh, it is cheap enough to be considered by people with a purpose to using it.

So whats the advantages of this equipment? Well, if your got your suspicions that your wife is cheating on you, or you want to catch your neighbour who your arguing with, it can be great for gathering evidence of thier crimes. Businesses get the most use out of surveillance equipment -acting as a theft deterrent and recording evidence when something does happen.

But when the devices are used for spying on people we know? Well, it depends on how its being used, as how it is used could see a huge infringement on people’s privacy, and when is it to far? With all the spy gear that can now be bought, you can use gps tracking, phone spying software and hidden devices to follow anyone around for a day. So arent we taking this all over the top? We fear that our own government spies on us, but hasnt it gone to far when we start to suspect our family and friends? We have to be careful that in our efforts to protect ourselves, we dont end up becoming a ‘big brother’ state, where the only privacy we will have left, will be the inside of our heads. Awsome stuff I say
