One crime in every 1000 cameras

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

New research has shown that only one crime per year will be solved with the help of computer surveillance. Since the release of this information the public are in uproar over the excessive use of surveillance equipment in and around almost every city.

A local Chief Detective said officers should do more to make use of evidence captured by the cameras which are practically on almost every street corner around the country. Video surveillance and does not mix well with Joe public. The latest statistic does strongly emphasise the effectiveness of the CCTV cameras around the country. Why do we need them if they are not solving any crimes – Where is the need in this in spy equipment? The use of CCTV is quickly being challenged as these statistics have just been released. There is a massive dissapointment in these CCTV devices. In my opinion it is only a matter of time before they have mobile phone tracking hooked up on all of us! OK – That may be a little paranoid but we are living in the big brother society.

Recent statistical research has pointed out to us that computer video technology has been extremely useful in preventing cars and vans from being stolen and vandalised. To help out with this problem people have been investing money into vehicle tracking devices which radically increases the chance of getting your car if it has been stolen. Yet the massive investment into video surveillance is still an enormous expense with little effectiveness and it creates a huge intrusion of human privacy but does not provide any improvement on our own security. What can we do? What is the value of keeping these cameras in our streets anymore? Should we get rid of them all together? You would think that no Government official would be thinking that the statistics would be as low as they are but then again I hope that they are planning for something to be done. Let’s see what happens..

IFA expo 2009 in Berlin!

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Europe’s largest consumer electronics show is almost upon us. The expo is considered as one of the biggest showcases of technology in the country and is notorious for making big announcements. This could be anything from surveillance equipment to new computer game consoles – The expo literally has it all! This year the show will be in Berlin, Germany and there are rumours of Phillips, Sony, Toshiba and Samsung to be there making some big revelations from new TVs to Blu-Ray players and walkmans.

The IFA is not just about the latest phones and computer technology, it also showcases the latest 'green technology'. In other words - technology that is eco-friendly and does not use up copius amounts of energy. You will be able to see prototype products being tested and previews of the latest gadgets to hand. At the expo you will also be able to see some other smaller companies showcasing their stuff. You could get to see anything from new night vision technology to the latest gadgets to improve on audio surveillance. The event is due to kick off on 4th September so you must hurry and get yourself a ticket if you are interesting in going.

In 2008 the expo proved to be a massive success with the spectacle being around the latest Samsung Jet phone which was released a little earlier this year. It was designed to rival the iphone and I think it has real potential. As the web and TV are very closely tied together these days you can expect to see numerous 3G concepts and plenty of wacky stuff that we will be seeing sometime next year. This year we have just seen the release of the 3G iphone which has completely blown people away with its endless capabilities on the net.

So, it would be worth it to keep an eye on the expo this year as there un-doubtedly going to be some awesome gadgets and gizmos out there for everyone!
